Train Case

Hello there dear readers! This past Saturday I went to the Randolph Market Festival again with my sister and friend (pictured below).
How gorgeous is that African Juju head piece in the background.
I finally picked up a vintage train case I've been wanting for a while. This one was $12 and in my favorite color red.  The mirror was missing, but its easy to put another in its proper place.

I also picked up this crystal ice bucket for eight bucks.
Later that night I wore this out and about.

Random Things - Monday

I know I can't be the only one who gets excited around this time of year when the new Ikea catalog comes out.

Last week I went to the opening of the Millennium Park: Made In Chicago World Class Jazz free concert series featuring a high school opening act, followed by headliners Edward Wilkerson Jr. and Ari Brown.  They will be held every Thursday evening with different artists leading up to the big Jazz Festival event on August 31st.

Loving my new work bag from Zara.  It's big enough to hold all my stuff, things I may shop for on lunch, and a pair a shoes I can switch into once I get to work.

And finally here are some of my summer time eats I've been enjoying.
Grilled Salmon & Shrimp Kabobs my friend grilled a few weeks ago.
Spaghetti w/ Ground Chicken Meat Sauce, Garlic Bread & Sweet Red Wine
Tilapia, Green Beans, Whole Wheat Cous Cous, Cornbread & Sparkling Mango juice

Dress Turned Skirt

Today's look was inspired by GFS.  I love how Reiko takes casual pieces and dresses them up and makes them so unique.
This skirt used to be a dress. See it worn here.  I recently took a couple of my vintage shirt dresses and hacked off the top parts of them to make them full skirts. I like it much better this way since I can control if I go the dressier route or the casual way like I've done here.

Jump To It

My goal every Summer is to really take advantage of all that Chicago has to offer.  They really have some amazing activities and events in the city, and a lot of them are free.  For instance, our park district shows free movies in different parks every evening.  Then there is the dancing in the park where instructors teach you various styles of dance for free.  And today kicks of the Taste of Chicago (Chaka Khan & Jennifer Hudson will be performing), now through Sunday.  If you are in the area, check out my "Around Chicago" tab on the right for specifics on each of the happenings this Summer.
Which reminds me, if you will definitely be in Chicago July 28th or 29th and would like to attend the Randolph Street Market Festival, the first person to email me will receive a complimentary pair of tickets.

Pink Pumps

Hello there everyone!  Sorry for the brief hiatus I took on the blog, it was super hot last week and dressing simple and easy was all I did, nothing exciting to see.
I managed to take these photos before I went out to dinner on Friday night.

In Vest

A denim vest was on my wishlist and I finally found one.  It also came in a dark wash, but I opted for the lighter one because I can do more with this color.  It's perfect to wear over skirts that have been pulled up as dresses like I've done here.  You can also wear the look with a cardigan or a blazer but since it's the summer, the vest is just right.  See here how I previously wore this "dress" as a skirt.

I have to tell you ladies, I am loving the new Covergirl Blast Flipstick.  It's one color on each end of the stick that you can wear alone or combine for a custom color. Here I'm wearing the "Minx" flipstick.  I also purchased "Stunner" and it is just as pretty.  I'm not being paid to write this (though I wish I were), I just like to share a good product when I find it.
