Sweater Outside

Today is a perfect 70ish degree day in the Windy City, so of course I started thinking about layering again.
One of the unexpected ways to layer in chilly weather is to wear a chunky knit sweater on the outside of a leather jacket.
Here are some inspiration photos I've saved:

Don't put that mini dress away just yet. Pair it with skinny jeans, a leather moto jacket and an oversized long knit cardigan.

Have a sweater dress or tunic? Put it on top of a fitted leather jacket and complete the look with leggings and your favorite pair of boots.

Pair a maxi dress or skirt with a leather bomber and take an old sweater or a thrifted sweater and wear it upside down (maybe she did a DIY and cut the neck off?) to give it a shawl look.
I'm so going to try this.

And finally, I was inspired by this look last fall from a street style photo on Essence.com. All the key pieces were already in my wardrobe, just piled on the layers.

Chunky knits are a great way to jazz up that old leather jacket in your closet. So why not give it a try this season ladies.

Note: I don't remember where specifically I saved most of the photos from, but they are from the street style photographers that are listed on the right side bar. Check them out when you get a chance, great inspiration for all seasons.

  1. That is so cool, I love that idea! I wish I could rock that but I hate adding bulk to my 5 foot frame, if I was 10 inches taller girl, I would definitely rock that!!
